The Weekly Cycle

How Oaths Are Offered

Every Monday at 00:00 UTC the Cogitator draws a fresh set of oaths from the catalogue. Three rank tiers are offered each week, one each at Brother, Master, and Lion. If the chapter is running multiple theatres in a season, you may see additional pairs (one per theatre).

The Task
A short sentence describing what must be done. Example: kill five thousand tyranids in Operations.
The Window
How long you have to fulfil it, counted from the moment you swear. Oaths have varying timeframes.
The Tier
Brother, Master, or Lion. The tier sets the difficulty; the streak does not care which one you pick. However, it should be noted that the Oaths offer different Oath Points which are used for commissions.
The Constraint
Some oaths add a condition that must hold through the window (e.g. no incapacitations or only use Sniper). Break the constraint and the oath will not count the submission or, in some cases it will fail outright, even if the count would otherwise have met its goal.

Swearing An Oath

The Rite

The rite is simple, but the choice carries weight. Review the week’s offerings, consider the tier and difficulty that best match your resolve, then swear the oath you intend to fulfill before the window closes.

The Steps
  1. 1. Open your profile's Oaths tab.
  2. 2. Review the week's offerings. Each card shows the task, tier, difficulty, and the time remaining before the oath window closes.
  3. 3. Click Swear This Oath on the charge you intend to complete. The oath becomes active immediately, and the Cogitator begins its accounting.

This week's three tiers. The Brother card is gold, Master is crimson, Lion is emerald. Pick one.
One at a timeYou may only carry one active Weekly Oath. Choose carefully: there is no abandonment. Once sworn, you fulfil it, break its constraint, or let the window expire. No going back. The oath is duty.
Section III

The Three Tiers

Brother, Master, Lion

Brother
The standard tier. Reachable for most brothers in a normal week of play. Worth 1 Oath Point.
Master
Sharper. Higher goals or tighter constraints. For brothers playing harder difficulties or putting in steady hours. Worth 3 Oath Points.
Lion
The steepest tier. Reserved for rare deeds and serious commitment. Few are sworn each week; fewer still are honoured. Worth 5 Oath Points.

The streak and counters do not distinguish between tiers. A Lion honoured and a Brother honoured each tick the streak by one. What you pick is for your own measure.

Section IV

Fulfilment

What Counts

The Cogitator reviews mission logs across your oath's active window and tallies progress against the sworn task. There is no need to mark an AAR as “for the oath.” Simply file your reports normally, and if the deed matches the oath's requirements, the count will update accordingly.

The Tally
  • Reports you filed count. Any AAR you submitted during the window applies if its stats match the task.
  • Squad reports count. If another brother filed an AAR and tagged you as a participant, that mission ticks your oath the same as one you filed yourself.
  • Constraints break early. If your oath carries a side rule (no incapacitations, Sniper only, that sort of thing), the Cogitator checks it every time a report comes in. Some constraints will ensure the AAR is not counted - whereas others have conditions where if you cross the line once the oath will fail on the spot, even if your count would otherwise have hit the goal.
Section V

Honoured, Fallen, Expired

How Oaths Resolve

Oath outcomes are resolved automatically after an AAR is submitted, when your profile is refreshed, or during the daily sweep. Whether you fulfill your pledge or fall short of it, a dispatch is sent across Vox-Net once the result is recorded.

Honoured
The task was met within the window and no constraint was broken. Streak ticks up by one; the oath joins your record of honour.
Fallen
A constraint was broken before the window closed (e.g. an incapacitation on a clean-run oath). Streak resets to zero; the oath is logged as failed.
Expired
The window closed without the count reaching its goal. Logged as failed; streak resets the same as a fall.
Section VI

Streaks

The Long Count

Your Oaths card records four measures of your sworn service: your current streak, your longest streak, the number of oaths honoured, and the number ofoaths failed. Together, these counters show both your present momentum and your full history of pledges made before Imperium Nihilus.

OATH STREAKS
  • Current streak ticks up by one with every oath honoured. It resets to zero the moment an oath is fallen or expired.
  • Longest streak is your personal best. Once set, it stays — it does not reset with a fall.
  • Honoured and fallen are lifetime totals across every Weekly Oath you have ever sworn.

These are the entirety of the reward. Weekly Oaths pay no Throne Geld and require no stake. The record is the prize.

Common Questions

FAQ

Do oaths pay Throne Geld?

No. The Throne Geld you earn comes from the AARs you file, not from the oath. Weekly Oaths are about service and the streak; geld and rank rewards belong to the Commissions ledger.

Can I carry more than one Weekly Oath?

No. One active oath at a time. Once you swear, the other tiers stay greyed out until your current oath resolves.

I swore an oath and my circumstances changed. Can I abandon it?

No. Weekly Oaths cannot be cancelled mid-week. The chapter doesn't allow a brother to spoil a streak artificially. Either fulfil it, break the constraint, or let the window expire.

What happens if I miss the deadline by a day?

The Cogitator's daily sweep at 04:00 UTC closes any expired oath and logs it as failed. The streak resets, the fallen counter ticks up. Plan your window with the cron in mind.

Do I have to swear every week?

No. Skipping a week does not penalise you. Your streak stays where it was. Oaths are for brothers pushing themselves further; the line holds whether you swear or not.

Can I see another brother's oath history?

Yes. Every profile's Honors tab shows the oath log: honoured and fallen oaths alike, with dates and tiers. Open the brother's profile and look under Honors → Oaths.

Did my AARs from last week count?

No. The window starts the moment you swear. Reports filed earlier are part of your stats and your geld, but they don't retroactively apply to the oath. Plan the swearing.
