Commissions
What Lives On The Page
The Four Boards
The Commissions page shows four tabs:
- Next Commission
- The next rank you may purchase, its cost in geld, and the requirements the Cogitator has verified. The bar shows your progress against each requirement.
- Company Transfer
- Available transfers to another battle company. Some formations are gated, such as elite companies like the Deathwing or the Sanguinary Guard; the Cogitator lists only those you may consider.
- Specialist Transfer
- Transfers into a specialist formation: Reclusium, Armoury, Librarium, Apothecarion, and so forth. Specialist roles carry their own progression beyond standard rank.
- Geld Debt
- Any debt you have accrued, the severity, and the path back to good standing. Debt accrues from inactivity. Imperium Nihilus is not a job, but we do want to incentivize activity. Debt blocks transfers and purchases; clear it first.

Earning Geld
The Sources
Throne Geld is awarded by the Cogitator through two channels — your activity on the chapter's Discord and the AAR submissions you file. Credits can be revoked after review and denial (duplicate submissions, cheating, etc), so file honestly. Each source operates by its own measure:
GELD SOURCES- Discord Participation being online, chatting in Vox, sending messages all award a small amount of Geld. This method is capped, but a long streak will provide small bonuses to other Geld sources. The goal of Nihilus is to foster a community - and communities interact.
- AAR Submissions pays by difficulty and outcome. For instance, a Ruthless SM2 PvE victory pays more than a Substantial one; defeats pay a smaller token. Additionally, performance will also come into account - kills, incaps, damage taken, K/D, Objectives, etc. depending on the game and mode. The amount of Geld earned and the breakdown is available after every AAR Submission.
See Filing After Action Reports for the full submission flow.
How To Purchase A Commission
The Rank Rite
The rite itself is straightforward, but the requirements may not be. Before you spend Throne Geld, read the listed prerequisites carefully. Some commissions, transfers, or purchases may require rank, standing, prior service, or other conditions before the Cogitator will permit the request.
COMMISSIONING PROCESS- Step 1: Open the Commissions page and read the next commission's requirements.
- Step 2: File AARs, be active and act on every requirement until each is met and you carry enough geld to cover the cost.
- Step 3: Confirm the rite. Geld is deducted; the new rank is recorded; a unique dispatch announces the advancement to the Community on the Nihilus site and Discord.
The Commissions are usually a combination of three things:
- Throne Geld: The currency earned through activity and AAR submissions.
- Oath Points: The Sworn Oaths that populate weekly contribute either 1/3/5 points depending on the difficulty of the oath.
- Activity: There is a secret formula based on activity within Discord that determines this number. Stay active and it will be easy enough to hit.
Changing Formation
Transfer
Once you have served long enough, you may transfer between formations or into a specialist formation. The cost is paid in geld and, occasionally, in a renunciation: some transfers reset specialist progress, others require stringent devotion to the cause.
GELD DEBT
How it works
Geld Debt accrues from inactivity. The Cogitator watches several activity signals across the Discord and website. Cross the threshold set for your current rank on either, and the daily sweep begins charging geld against your record until you hit the Geld Debt floor for the rank. Additionally, as you accrue debt you may be de-ranked (until the debt is paid off). The aim is not punishment, but to keep the line active. Return to the Crusade and the debt stops growing; clear the principal and your standing returns to good.
The Geld Debt tab will either show what Geld Debt triggers your current rank has or it gives the information on your current debt standing - the principal owed, the severity of the standing, and the path back.
- Warning severity: a small standing balance; transfers are blocked and all purchases disabled.
- Critical severity: a heavier debt; the Cogitator may demote your current rank until paid down. Your earned tier is not lost. The system was designed not to be overly punitive and getting back to good standing is generally a small lift compared to earning the rank the first time.
Common Questions
FAQ
Check the requirement bars on the Next Commission tab. A rank may require more than geld; some demand a certain number of victories, an oath honoured, or service time in the current formation.
The exact rates rotate with the campaign and the Cogitator does not publish a public table. File reports honestly and the geld accumulates faster than you expect.
Yes; every profile shows rank, formation, and earned tier. Geld balance and debt are private.
The original credit is reversed. Reversals are recorded on your account and ranking officers can see them. File clean reports; honest brothers never see this.
Critical debt or a denied series of AARs can trigger a demotion. Open the Geld Debt tab; the Cogitator lists every ledger entry and the path back to good standing.
