SM2 Operations
Difficulties
The Six Ladders
Each SM2 Operation runs at one of six standard difficulties. Modified Operations sit outside that ladder and use their own two tiers, Normal and Hard. The difficulty affects both the game and the geld you receive back in Imperium Nihilus.
- Minimal
- Practice tier. Pays a token; counts for AAR count oaths.
- Average
- The drill tier. Above token, below standard.
- Substantial
- Standard. This is the floor most oaths set.
- Ruthless
- Sharp; punishes loose play. Pays meaningfully more.
- Lethal
- For veterans. Permadeath rules in effect.
- Absolute
- The ceiling. Few squads clear it; the geld reflects it.
- NormalModified
- Modified Operations only. Standard mission with one or more strategems (modifiers) layered on.
- HardModified
- Modified Operations only. The same mission run hot; strategems plus tougher baseline conditions.
Required Screenshots
What To Submit
Four kinds of screen feed the Cogitator. The Mission Record and the filer's own Operative Data are required for every report; additional squadmate Operative screens are optional; the Modified Briefing is requested only when filing a Modified Operation.

| Name | Required | Text |
|---|---|---|
| Mission Record | Yes | The victory or defeat screen at end-of-mission. Shows operation name, outcome, and squad-wide stats. |
| Operative Data | Yes, for filer | The filer's own personal stats page — class, kills, damage, revives, and deaths. If you switched class mid-mission, submit both halves of your stats. |
| Additional Operative | Optional | A squadmate's stats page. Lets the Cogitator attach stats to a brother whose handles aren't linked in the chapter roster. One per additional brother. |
| Modified Briefing | Only if Modified | The pause screen with the strategem panel visible. Required when filing a Modified Operation; see Section IV. |
Class Detection
The Squad Operatives
The Cogitator reads the operative icon on your stats screen and assigns one of seven classes:
- Tactical
- Assault
- Vanguard
- Bulwark
- Sniper
- Heavy
- Techmarine
Class detection is usually clean. If the Cogitator fails to read it or is incorrect, the user can always change the class.
Modified Operations
Strategems
Modified PvE missions may only be filed on Normal or Hard difficulty. In addition to the required mission screens, the Cogitator can record up to four active modifiers.
To file a Modified PvE mission, the filer follows the standard report flow first, attaching all mandatory screenshots. They then select the modifier option and attach the Pause Briefing Screen from any point during the mission, with the modifier panel visible. The Cogitator reads the mission difficulty and each listed modifier, then tags the report accordingly.

Common Questions
FAQ
It is possible. The Cogitator records incaps and revives, and we do have a formula for how Throne Geld is distributed, but does not penalise them. A clean victory is a clean victory regardless of how many times you went down.
If they have not registered, they will appear as an unmatched name. Their stats are simply not entered into the ledger. Yours and any other tagged brother's are unaffected.
Without the Mission Record, the Cogitator cannot verify outcome and operation name. You may still file the report, but you will type those fields by hand and a Sergeant may review it more closely.
Yes. We intentionally set it so the Cogitator does not check lobby type. Any Operation completed will count.
